Figurative Language
Simile:
A figure of speech that compares one thing to another. All similes contains either “as” or “like”.
E.g
As innocent as a lamb.
As white as snow.
As happy as a puppy’s tail.
Metaphors:
Metaphors like similes compare one thing to another however, there are no “ likes” and “as”. Metaphors say one thing is the other thing.
E.g
the sea is a hungry dog.
Jack was a rough diamond.
Hyperbole:
It is also form of figurative language. It is actually exaggeration used for effect.
E.g I was so tired I could sleep for six months.

Compound sentences by Karhmyn
A compound sentence contains two sentences joined by a conjunction. Here are examples of Compound sentences.
1. Rachel waited after school for her friend, but her friend was in detention.
2.I looked for John and Sam at the park, but they already left.
3. Jack and Mark arrived late, so they missed the movie.
4. Sophie will be getting pocket money this week, she did all of her chores.
